National Compliment Day

‘I compliment my mom because she lets herself down too much and I like to remind her that she is a very special person. The compliment I get the most is probably that I’m pretty but I don’t really think I am. No, it’s awkward when I get complimented, because I don’t know what to respond back. What I think is the best compliment is when I’ll point out the small things like, “Wow you straighten your hair, it’s so pretty.” Well its feels good and warming, it feels nice when you get complimented by someone else.’

‘I like to compliment my family because I grew up with no father figure, and they lead me to the right direction and they help me cope with my mother pass and they teach me to become a better person, so its all thanks to my family. The thing I get the most is that I have a huge heart. It’s a very nice feeling because it makes me feel good about myself and that I’m making good things in the world. The best compliment is to be kind to one another and to be a role model for the youth and the future Bowie students. After someone compliments me, I feel proud of myself and gives me so much comfort that people think that way about me.’

‘I compliment most the people that are insecure about themselves, they see the insecurities but not the awesome things of them. The best compliment I have received is that I am unique from different from other friendships they’ve had, and that I’m a very mature person. I like when people say nice things to me because it raises my ego, energy and self esteem. With my friendships, I’m like a mother of my friends, I can accept failure but I can’t accept not trying. I feel comfortable and happy after someone compliments me, knowing they are happy with being friends. ‘

Dillon Uribe, 11th Grader

I like to compliment my friends because I really know them and I personally think they are really pretty. Today, someone told me something that really mattered to me, Vanessa told me that my blouse was cute. I don’t really like to be complimented because I blush a lot, and I hate blushing. The best comment that I like hearing is that they like my hair, that I look cute and that’s it I guess. When I get complimented, I feel like I’m appreciated and that I’m important.’
