Two Issues in a Row

Nothing makes you feel butterflies in your stomach as love does. Michael Juarez and Jennifer Mariscal are a senior couple who have been in the Growler’s Love Issue before. As a matter of fact, this is the second time appearing in the newspaper as a couple. The couple has appeared in the 2017 edition of the Love Issue.

“It feels joyful to appear again because I get to come out with the person I truly love,” said Juarez.

Mariscal feels the exact same way as Michael does. Mariscal said that being by Juarez’s side for the second year has been a journey. They both met at Guillen Middle School in Spanish class in a rather awkward way.

“We were in Ms. Camarena’s class, and she wouldn’t speak a lot, but when she did, I told her to shut up and since then, we became friends,” Juarez said.

According to the couple, they hang out almost everyday for a long period of time. Juarez said that one challenge in their relationship is the distance in between them during hard times.

“One of the biggest challenges in our relationship is that whenever we have a problem or have something happening, we have to be far away,” they both agreed.

Although they have challenges in their relationship, they both agree that there is something that sets them apart from most of the relationships now a days.

“Something that sets us apart is that we have a history before we ever dated. We were really close and we explored each other emotionally, and we still are exploring each other,” they both agreed.

Both Juarez and Mariscal see a big future ahead of them despite being at a young age.

“I actually do see a big future in our lives, like graduating together and get[ting] our own house, and maybe even form a family,” Juarez said.

The couple hopes to go far in their relationship and take the next step into life after school.
