Family

Stephanie Salinas, Perla Cardenas, Kimberly Cardenas, Jovanna Salinas, Gilbert Cardenas, Santos Cardenas and Benny Cardenas (cousins)

“I like having my relatives at the same school as me because it feels like home and I get to enjoy my high school years with them.

I came to Bowie because it’s been a family tradition and we don’t want to break it.

I don’t really pressure my cousins but Ido pressure my brother a lot because I want the best for him.

We are all very close, but not like before, because most of us have a boyfriend or girlfriend, so were with them during school, but we know if we need anything, we have each others back.” -Cardenas

Alondra Rodriguez, Osvaldo Rodriguez and Alejandra Rodriguez (Siblings)

“Having my siblings sucks because they are always staring at me and not minding their own business.

I decided to come to Bowie because of the basketball team and the friends I have here.

It’s rare that I pressure my siblings because I really don’t care what they do, I’ll only get on their case if they are doing something bad.

For some reason we’re not close whatsoever, we try to keep our distance from each other.” -Rodriguez

Alejandro Castanon, Jackie Fuentes, and Adrian Fuentes (cousins)

“I really don’t mind having my relatives at the same school and class.

It sometimes gets fun because we can help each other out at home with work and stuff plus my relatives don’t really get in my business, so I don’t mind.

I’m not on their case a lot because they’re already big enough to take care of themselves, but I will stand up for them.

We are somewhat close but we are not together all the time.”- Fuentes

Carlos Varela, Mario Gonzalez and Nathan Felix (cousins)

“I think it’s pretty nice because I get to see them around and go eat with them when we feel like talking to someone.

I came to Bowie because all my family came here, like my mom, dad, and two cousins, and also because Bowie has a lot of pride!

We all get pressured because we play sports and we have to keep our grades up.” – Felix

Leslie Ulteras and Fransisco Mata (uncle)

“I like having my niece at the same school as me because we get to spend a little more time together. We also kind of have the same classes and help each other out if anything.

The reason I came to Bowie was because it is a school with important history and a great baseball team, which I am part of.

Although we come to the same school it’s rare that we see each other or hang out with each other because we are both very busy and involved with school.” – Mata

Kevin Villagrana and Brisa Rivera (cousins)

“No special feeling we really don’t communicate at all.

I came to Bowie because of the business program because I always wanted to study accounting or financing.

We really don’t pressure each other because we  just do our own thing and go our own separate ways. “ – Rivera

Coach Camacho, Juan Camacho (son)

“It’s really fun to be here at Bowie with my dad because we have always been really close, and I feel like this has made us closer.

I decided to come to Bowie because I mainly wanted to play sports for my dad. He had never been my coach before and I had been looking forward to it for a couple years now.

I have a little bit of pressure on me to succeed because he is my coach and I feel like I have to be the best I can be so that I will not let him down.” -Camacho

Coach Martinez, Daniel Martinez (son)

“I decided to come to Bowie because of the Business Magnet.

It’s pretty cool having my dad here at school with me because we get to interact more and do more things together.

I get a little pressured because I have to stay on top of my grades and also be the best I can be in sports.” – Martinez

Coach Martin, Nathan Garcia (son)

“It’s a little tough having my mom around, but at the same time I like it.

Bowie is a family tradition. My uncles, cousin, and parents graduated from Bowie, so I wanted to keep the tradition going.

I do get pressured a lot. Sometimes it’s hard to understand but I know she does it for the best of me, both in the classroom and on the field/court.” – Garcia

Ms. Frances Rios, Kaylie Baray, Ashley Rojas, Dylan Rios(nieces & nephew)

“I feel happy I have some of my relatives in the same school with me because that means we can all make high school memories together.

My mom, dad, aunts, uncles, and other family members came to Bowie, and I wanted to keep that tradition going.

I let them do what they want most of the time.

We’re not really close because they ignore me most of the time.” – Rojas
