This year’s homecoming theme was announced by student council as Battle of the Decades. That will mean students get to dress up based on a decade and will have two options to choose from.

“I liked it. I go along with people’s ideas and I liked this idea, it’s different. It’s going to be long process but so far we are ahead because the past years we take long to get the theme and the days and everything. So I think the process has been good so far and for the next weeks we are just working on decorating and getting the word out so people could participate,” Student Council president, Kimberly Martinez, 12, said.

Monday, Oct. 8, is an off day but seniors will be coming in to have their panoramic and senior photos taken at 10 a.m. The dress up day for Monday is Dress to Impress, influenced by the Big Band and Rat Pack era of the 30s and 40s.

Tuesday is going to be the 20s vs. 50ss. The 20s is influence by the Great Gatsby and Flappers, while the 50s influenced by the movie “Grease” so dress up as greasers or pink ladies with poodle skirts.

Wednesday will be the 60s vs. 70s. The 60s is influenced by hippies and the 70s by disco. The PSAT/SAT test will take up that day but a parade will take place in Segundo Barrio that night, beginning at Guillen Middle School.

Thursday will be the 80s vs. 90s. The 80s and 90s are inspired by music so dress up as your favorite rock and roll or hip-hop musician.

Friday is spirit day also known as Millennial Take Over so students are encouraged to dress blue and white and show their school spirit.

The homecoming game is Oct.12 and it will be play against Irvin in Baty-Simmang stadium. As of now it will be played there but it has not been confirmed yet due to the construction and recent vandalism.
