Michael Juarez, 12, is new to the swimming program and has proven his determination. Juarez joined the swimming team because it’s a sport that involves the movement of the whole body. Juarez decided to swim freestyle for the first year in high school. One of the biggest factor in Juarez decision was his love for the water.

“I like being able to use my whole body to do something and the love I have for water is unreal, it’s amazing,” Juarez said.

Although Juarez wasn’t very good, his determination and commitment was what kept him moving. According to Juarez, the sport is suitable who considers joining.

“Swimming is for everybody, you just have to set your mind to it and give it your all,” Michael Juarez, 12, said.

Juarez’s performance in the water is decent but he states that he can do better. According to Juarez, what needs to improve is holding his breath and his dives.

“My potential is high and my performance has been increasing throughout every practice and meet and I can see the difference every time I compete,” Juarez said.

According to Juarez, the team looks strong but it certainly can grow stronger. Juarez says the team individuals look strong but the relays could be better. Juarez’s first year in swimming has been a journey of learning new things and getting out of his comfort zone.
