Couple Corner: Daniel and Yamileth

Yamileth Rodriguez and Daniel Garcia are sophomores that have been in a relationship for almost 3 years. They first met at Guillen Middle School, when they were in 8th grade. Garcia’s first impression of Rodriguez was he thought she looked kind of nerdy. Rodriguez thought he was the type of guy that is really annoying.

Garcia and Rodriguez said that for their first Valentine’s gift, he got her Japanese candy and she got him a shirt.

“It didn’t feel awkward when we first started dating, we weren’t bothered by our relationship,” Garcia said.

When they first started dating, it took time for Garcia to tell his parents. Garcia’s parents didn’t really care that he was dating her. Rodriguez’s mom, on the other hand, still doesn’t know that they’re dating.

“We tell almost everything to each other. Our confidence is really strong and we just know everything, whether it’s small things to the big things,” Rodriguez said.

Garcia and Rodriguez said that being in a long term relationship is really not that hard, and that it doesn’t get boring when you have someone that has the same personality as you.

“She could be all sweet and innocent, but she is the girl version of me,” Garcia said.

“Being around her makes me really happy because with her, I don’t have to be someone else to try and impress her. With her, I can be myself without being judged by her,” Garcia said.

This relationship has been through many ups and downs, but that doesn’t stop them from being a loving, caring, and happy couple.

“We have our fight like any normal couple, but there is something weird about it,  we usually fight over anime or dumb, abnormal things,” Garcia said.
