He grabs his script as they are setting up the lights in stage. He steps on the stage, many emotions going through his face. As it’s getting closer and closer he starts to read. He takes a deep breath before he begins. He thinks to himself that he needs to do it since no one else would.

As they keep reading the spotlight is shining on them ,growing more confident. As they finish, one last breath.

Success, then slowly the curtains close slowly, giving one big show.

“I was looking for something to challenge myself and thought theater was the effective way,” Carrillo said.

Freddy Carrillo is a veteran theater member that included him stealing the show during the Winter Showcase in a last-minute play.

He joined the theater program his junior year in 2016 and has been in five plays. He is usually a really quiet person yet, has not regretted being in the theater program.

With only two students out of the possible five during the time of the showcase, they kept being consistent and acted without an instructor. They ended up putting a show on that night.

Some of his goals where to make it through One Act through the 1st round.

Carrillo, like other students had time management on scheduling to meet up with the rest of the drama team in lunch every Thursday.

Although he stresses, since he is a senior he doesn’t let it interfere with theater at all. Once the One Act play practice started, he made sure he was there in the meetings to practice.

As he would open the book, a completely different person would transform.  Joining theater changed Carrillo and was a good decision that he took in order to do something he liked and enjoyed doing.
