On Feb. 14 Beall teachers and parents are asking for people to participate in forming a human chain around Beall Elementary School.

Beall Committee and Familias Unidas del Chamizal have decided to make Valentine’s Day a day to embrace Beall Elementary School. People are encouraged to participate as students and parents join hand in hand to “hug” Beall Elementary School. According to Familias Unidas, this day will be used to send the EPISD district a message that they’re not giving up the fight to keep their school open.

The recent announcement of Beall Elementary School closure has affected many families in the Chamizal area and parents have made it clear, with their attendance at board meetings and protests, that they do not plan on sending their children to Douglas Elementary School.

Families and participants will start gathering in the front of the school at 3 P.M. and they will begin at 4 P.M.
