Mr. Attel: The one person that will never let me down, that will always guide me, hear me out and forever support me. The one that always reassures me when I feel like everything is falling apart and the one I can always get a laugh with. Someone that I will forever hold close to my heart and will forever be grateful for.

Mr. Attel means many things to me. He encouraged me to follow my dreams and to be diligent. He showed me discipline tough love and most importantly to not be scared of taking risks. He inspired me to pursue a career in something I love just how he loves his job at Bowie. Mr Attel means family to me. He embodies the definition of what a real educator should.

All people come in different capacities, aptitudes and magnitudes. I truly believe that Attel came into our lives for a special reason. Attel is someone who has knowledge, lessons, and speaks only truth. He is the definition of hard love. Attel taught us the life lessons full of adventures to ride. Attel taught us this: Sometimes you just need to sit back and enjoy large cup of unsweet tea!

I wanted to thank Sam Attel for the time, talent, and expertise he has given Bowie. His direction and advice continue to be beneficial to students and alumni of one of the greatest high schools in El Paso. I am very grateful for the fact that Attel went the extra mile to ensure that student life always exceeded expectations. Attel means a paramount of what it is to be a Bowie Bear.

Attel is my best friend. I know it sounds cliche, but our relationship is more than work. I talk to him every morning whether it’s about school/work, family, friends, or a random topic that somehow comes up. We have a daily morning conversation. He doesn’t have a cell phone, but we text through email, and when I don’t answer him fast enough I’ll see my phone light up with a call from Bowie. I trust him with my life, I have for the past 10 years. He has seen me, and helped me grow and become the person/teacher I am today. I owe him everything. He knows when it’s me at the door by my knock and that I like oatmeal in the mornings, I know he likes his tea unsweet, he doesn’t like chorizo but loves bean and cheese burritos from Chico’s. We complain to each other about our never ending to-do lists, but at the end of the day, we both agree we wouldn’t change what we do for anything in the world. Isn’t this what best friends are? Attel is my best friend.

I love you dearly.

Mr. Attel is someone who is fundamental at Bowie and its community, he has influenced so many students lives and helped create a better future for them. Through lessons in leadership skills and crucial life skills Mr. Attel has made it possible for so many of us to go out in to the world and face its many challenges. He taught me to always strive to be the best and to always go above and beyond whatever you are doing in life, he pushed me to be the best student-leader I could be. I am very thankful for everything he has taught me and It was an honor to be his student

It’s hard to describe a man who will go out of his way to try and give you everything he could possibly give you. He made sure you passed all your classes, he even made sure you had a good meal after practice. And if you got out of line, he never held back to tell you what was on his mind. Other than my parents, I’ve never met a person who cared as much for me to succeed, than Mr. Attel. Thank you for always being there sir.

Mr. Attell has dedicated so many years to a job he truly believes in. At a school like Bowie High School where the rest of society already doubts you as a student, it makes a huge difference to have educators and staff like him care and believe in the service they are providing. I am sure he still asks himself if now is the right time to retire, and I want to add and assure him that I am living proof of what an amazing asset he has been to so many students over the years!

His big temper made him a life coach but his bigger heart made him a role model. He has been a part of the continued success of Bowie High School making history and reaching milestones. His capacity to have a constructive effect on the character and future of his students has shaped me into the person I am. Thank You Mr. Attel for you unconditional support and dedication to us.

Sam is a wonderful teacher, leader, and friend. He is everything one could look for in a good mentor. He is someone who is willing to give you advice that isn’t what you want to hear but always has your best interest in mind. I will always be grateful to him for his support and kindness.
