Mr. Eddie Jaquez, law inforcement instructor,  he was only 21 years old when he had a child, so when he was a young dad that was very difficult. He still worked on those obstacles and finally achieved his goal.

     “I had a kid when I was only 21 years old and so I was a young dad and so that was very difficult, but I worked on those obstacles and everything worked out good,” Mr. Jaquez said.

Mr. Jaquez’s biggest accomplishment while educating is watching the first group of kids graduate from high school and seeing a couple of them already working in Law Enforcement Fields.

   “I think all of it together, there’s not just one thing that singles me out, but I think being a teacher was a milestone for me, it was something I always wanted to do and I’m very happy for that accomplishment,” Mr. Jaquez said.

Mr. Jaquez’s biggest motivation in becoming a teacher was the Chief Of Police; Greg Allen and Richard D. Wiles, because they liked the way he taught and influenced him to apply for a teaching job.

     “It was very important, without school you can’t become a teacher, so it’s always important so that you have the college experience so that you can advocate the students so they can also push them to go towards college and also getting good careers,” Mr. Jaquez said.

Mr. Jaquez said he was a police officer for 25 years when he decided he wanted to become a teacher and got his alternative certification.

“Well, of course, my wife, I have a very supportive wife which we’ve been married for almost 30 years now,” Mr. Jaquez said.

Mr. Jaquez has many important roles here at school, for example, he is the JV Football coach, the head Wrestling coach, and an SLC teacher for the small learning communities for Global Industry.

    “Sure, there are always obstacles along the way, it’s not an easy path, but it’s a path that if you’re persistent and you know what you gotta dream big and follow your dreams and once you do that you’ll be able to succeed and attain your goals,” Mr. Jaquez said.

Mr. Jaquez would like to teach forensics because it goes hand-in-hand with Criminal Justice.

     “Go travel, let my hair grow, grow my beard, and get fat,” Mr. Jaquez said.
