A typical day for Mr. Diego Medina and Mr. Joel Rodriguez starts off with both of them drinking coffee together at their desk sometimes even buying breakfast. Then during class they’ll often joke by mocking or teasing each other. At the end of the day they may hang out at either one’s house. It’s a bromance that has quickly become known as: Medriguez.

Mr. Medina and Mr. Rodriguez have known each other for about 12 years now. They share a really interesting relationship known as a bromance that their students and colleagues have known to love.

“We know each other pretty well. I know what Medina likes and what bothers him and he also knows what bothers me,” Mr. Rodriguez said.

They know they can ask each other when one of them is having problems, that they can ask one another for advice.

“We hang out a lot after school, a little too much. Mr. Medina comes to my house quite a bit. I’m at his house quite a bit, His mom knows me, his dad knows me, and his aunt knows me,” Mr. Rodriguez said.

Like in any normal relationship, Mr. Medriguez have their arguments and fights, except in a professional way or even just as friends do. Mr. Medina said that they usually argue over project ideas, because Mr. Rodriguez always changes his mind at the last minute.

New Tech teachers think that Mr. Medina and Mr. Rodriguez are a very hard working team, they always make jokes about what has happened to both of them in the past. Students say that they are the most humble people because they both care about their students and are always helping students whether it’s school related or not.

Medriguez said that when they started working together for New Tech last year, it wasn’t too hard working with one another because they already knew each other so well.

“When they told me I was going to co-teach with another teacher I was kind of worried, but then I found out I was working with Medina and that made me more calm,” Mr. Rodriguez said.

Medriguez have many memories together some good and some bad.

“There’s a lot of them but I think my favorite was when I was driving on the wrong side of the freeway. It was a Juarez moment,” Mr. Rodriguez said.

“My least favorite memory was when Rodriguez drove on the wrong side of the freeway,” Mr. Medina said.

Mr. Rodriguez said that working with his friend is great and he feels that he is now a better teacher because of Mr. Medina, who was the teacher of the year at Bowie in 2016.

“I’m really happy to be able to grow and learn with him,” Mr. Medina said.

Medrigeuz are always spending time together, but one thing they love doing together is actually working and planning new projects for their classes.

“For me probably project planning when we’re either at my house or at his on a Sunday night and seeing an idea come together and bringing our ideas together (are my favorite),” Mr. Rodriguez said.

“For me it’s really interesting to see how his mind works and how he sees something one way and I see them in another but I think my favorite thing to do with him is work on cars,” Mr. Medina said.
